Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

post your BIG-UNS here (preferably gills, panfish then preds) ... could even be off species. everyone knows those preds always get in the way of a good bluegill hunt. show em off. describe how you setup or rigged for these big fellas.

20150208-Fishing with Brenden

had about an hour to kill before i dropped my grandson Brenden off at home... so he lives right down from one of my panfish lakes. took him out and hooked him up! 8" hybrid on his first fish!! He caught him on an UL ice rod with 2# test fluorocarbon in about 12 ft of water on a small tungsten jig ... fire tiger color pattern tipped with a live waxie.

A few I caught here in NY when we had a little ice............Honeoye Lake

Nice Greg! Fished Honeyoye once in May 2 years ago .Beautiful lake!

excellent haul...

how were you rigged?

how thick was the ice?

how deep were you?

what's your mothers maiden name ? lol just kiddin' Greg.....I always want to know the answers to those questions you asked too Slip.

And don't forget the all important question... what's the GPS coordinates? Lol

Been having such a slow start with the blue gills and sunfish this year ... I need all the input I can possibly get :-)

Anyone giving out GPS Coordinates is lieing lol

aw  John;; its not that they;re exactly  lieing;; they just give you those cordinates; so you;ll go fish there; so you will leave their honey spot alone !!   the old;; con game !!  LOL

It was that way here too.  Lost our ice this week, actually took the boat out for perch on Tuesday.  Unheard of around here in Feb.

That is amazing Greg .I scouted a lake nearby yesterday just over the border in NY and was surprised it was completely ice free .

Have not fished in 2016 yet I am ashamed to say .

i lose about 4 mos a year of fishing due to ice transition

20160127--a couple of jumbos for this lake...

while fishing for b'gills ...caught jigging a Sitka Smelt Stick in fire tiger tipped with a clipped Pink Waxie over 1-2ft high weeds in 8ft of water on a muddy flat
