I just heard that Russell Blessing, the fellow who invented the Wooly Bugger back in 1969, passed away. May he rest in peace with the knowledge that a piece of his creativity will remain forever at the core of a sport he loved.
FRD, I'm very new to fly tying, as you know, but I have done some research on the fathers of tying and those who have created lasting patterns. I have heard his name, and have tied his wooly bugger. Truely a great fly and a great man! The moment he decided to share his creation, was the moment we can all appreciate.
