Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

Question about slip bobber - can you fish with the stop and no bobber?

Hey everyone, I hope this isn't a dumb question...I am very interested in a slip bobber due to easy adjustment and storing off the watter.  My question is can you use the line/reel with the bobber stop and no bobber as you would any other setup?  Then, when you are ready to use the bobber, just put it on and go.  Does that make sense?

Thanks for this great place to share info.  I am making 2015 as my year to become a Big Bluegill Fisherman!  :)

You certainly can!  I do it all the time.  Most of my rods have a bobber stop somewhere on the mainline, from my UL setup all the way to my surf rods that I use for Catfish at the tailrace.

You'll find the bobber stop really effective when vertical jigging for Crappie.  You can set the bobber stop so that when it just breaks the water's surface, your jig is at the right depth for fish.  No bobber needed.

hey Kevin;; the number one rule in fishing is-- there are no rules!!  try anything and everything!!   on a few occasions i have used; just bobber stops as floats;; worked good to!!

Thanks gentlemen!  Used a slip boober for first time yesterday morning on an UL spinning setup.  Left stop on and worked perfectly when I switched to a small diver.
