Do you love big bluegill?
I have this app on my phone and for float fishing or those of us who are concerned about casting, where the wind is coming from and forecasts - this is the bomb-diggety.
I got this app on my phone (not sure which ones it works with) but you can also get the same thing from http://www.fishweather.com/ .
What this does is it shows me the direction the wind is GOING to come from in the morning, when the wind will change directions or speed and what the day looks like.
Within the 24-hour window, it is pretty spot on. This helps me pick sides of the pond or lake to setup at, and also helps me to pick my gear. I can set up an extra rig with a larger float setup if the wind is going to be going well or I can go extra-small on my floats if I see a nice calm day to pick up a few more fish!!
What this helps me avoid, like the other day was having the fishing go from really good to choppy side wind waves that swamped my little float setup. Knowing that a 2 p.m. wind change was coming across the lake with the app allowed me to have a chunky 3 gram float ready to fish so I could keep fishing the side-chop.
Try it out but wind is what brings me down or puts me on fish the most - I also might say, I had some trouble tracking down the app - but found the above site easily.
