Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

Hey everyone I just got a 16 foot telescoping wonderpole! I dont have any prior experience with a cane pole. Ive heard different ways on how to tie the line to it. Could you guys give me some suggestions? thanks!

Brandon.... go back through some of the old topics in this group...Mr. Abney has some very good instructions on rigging the poles....they work.

Thank you! That helps me
What have you heard?

I always add a drop of super glue to the eye, so it dribbles down into the socket. This helps secure it.
I've heard never tie it to the eye. Then I've heard tie it a few feet below the high or above the butt. Not sure what to do
I tie right to the eye and have not experienced a problem.
I've tied down the pole, too, as far as the butt.
On your Shakespeare, just attach to the line winder, of you want the added security.
What's the line winder? The two metal tabs facing each other? Sorry I've never used a cane pole before haha
Yes that's the winder.

Just curious, how many segments does this pole have?

It's a 5 segment

Brandon

Welcome to the world of fixed line fishing. The Shakespeare  Wonderpole is a good choice but a 16 foot pole is going to give you a bit of a workout  because of the weight distribution. Just tie the line to tip with a cinch knot and you will be fine. The great thing about poles is that you can go as light or as heavy as you want with the line. Poles can also be used to  dap flies. You may also want to look at either the 10 or 12 foot Wonderpole. The weight on the 10 foot model is just about half of the 16 foot.

Thank you for the response! I know the pole is pretty heavy compared to shorter models but I really am mostly using it for a few select ponds that ill be bank fishing from. I wanted the extra length! I appreciate the help!
