Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

It's pictured at about 12:37 into the video.  One of my local fishing buddies got interviewed, and was using a jig I tied.

And yes, this is one of my home lakes.

that's awesome Allen!... looks good... whats the name of your pattern?

looks like a nice area to fish too! is there alot of shoreline fishing opportunity locally?

Ken, the lake is about 25 surface-acres, with about 2/3 of the shoreline available to fish, plus three floating platforms and two boat launches.  Gas engines are restricted, so canoes, kayaks, float tubes, and small electric boats are popular.  You can even go over 1/4 mile up the creek that feeds lake.  I have a kayak, and will get into some incredibly skinny water up that creek while chasing trout.

Ken, I haven't actually named the jig.  The video called it a 1/64th, but it's actually a 1/80 oz.  I tie a couple versions of the tail.  The first version had chartreuse saddle hackle tips, tied splayed outwards, with some krystal flash.  The second version uses saddle hackle feather barbs instead of the hackle tips; it's a more efficient use of the feather.  Both versions use white ostrich herl twisted into something like chenille, and then wrapped around the hook shank.

CONGRATS ALLEN!!!   I just might even have one  or two of those!!  super good jig buddy!!  in fact my fishing buddy Mr. Al even;; kind of creatively aqquired one from me!!  LOL!!

Congrats Allen.
