I fish dark tannic waters full of heavy cover and predators so I rarely fish below 10 pound MONO and usually I use Trilene or Cajun........where you fish and how clear your water is will make the biggest difference in most instances......I go as high as 16 pound on my telescopic poles with no issues but you won't find many folks with these preferences on their water....

After trying the braided lines on several trips I have gone back to the Spyder wire or Trilene line , 8 # clear. The braided line , while strong enough to pull away from most snags,  would tangle up just by itself. If I had a bobber on it was worse.
