Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

I made this winder but I know if I'm missing any parts. I've only seen pictures with rigs wrapped around them. What holds them in place?

Usually pole winder clips

Pole Winder Clips

Rubber band holds a winder on a pole. The winder shouldn't stay on the pole- it gets in the way.

I have a supply of winders coming in as it seems that no one has the basics for fishing in his country. In fact, a bunch of the winders will have my new pole floats ready to fish on them....

The hook should have some small place to hook into. Start by hooking the hook in and then tightening up the first wrap. Get it started and then just lightly wrap- don't want to mark the line by having it too tight.  When you get up near the tip, you can break down the pole or rod and then use some rubber bands to lock the poles together and put your winder in place with the same rubber bands - ready-to-roll rig!

For a minute I thought you meant the metal clips on the fiberglass poles. I bend those off and file them down.

Useless American outtovation  (backwards innovation). Since the late 20's our fishing tackle for live bait has been one outtovation after another. I am convinced the wealthy have been designing gear less functional and less expensive for years since plastic. (no offense plastic winder clips)... didn't mean you.

Not sure if it's the wealthy, I think the problem is that they make the items that the market supports. Our culture is based on bigger is better.

Here is a DIY winder. Take a pool noodle and cut into 1 inch circle. Cut a channel at the 1/2 mark about 1/4 inch deep. Then mount your rig. See photo below

Can't buy EVA rigs in the US

I use noodles for jug lines . They work great and are easy to transport and store.
Good idea Joe.
In a foam whore myself - I save EPV/EPU whenever I find it. I make long winders from it , and tie a small snap to the lines end. This I clip on to the poles eye.

Thanks, How else can you make 40 + winders for under a dollar. Mind hold up to 12- 15 foot line with fly and shot. Works with hooks too. Tenkara fishers have had to improvise since Tenkara tackle is not available in the US. These holders will usually last one season.

I like em.
I'll make a few for my 'redneck tenkara' rods and try em out.
