Hey Doug, To tell you the truth, I'm just starting this long pole stuff myself. I grew up with spinning gear in hand and had never fish a cane pole before. I've done the Musky and the Walleye thing too. I lost my left arm 3yrs ago due to a difference of oppion with a rock crusher, making the fishing thing a little tougher. I have a 13yr son that loves to fish. He pretty much takes care of himself when it comes to fishing, and sometimes dad also. My 2 little girls will be 4 and 6 this summer. We tried the Barbie rods last year and you know how it is, you cast it out they reel it in and so on. I figure do away with the reel and maybe they catch something, maybe even dad. Won't be untangling them every 2mins. I got a 13' telescoping fiberglass one now and will soon be adding to the collection. What I love about this sort of fishing is that I can buy a cane pole for everyone in the family for the same price as one of my musky baits....OLD SCHOOL I Love it. Thanks for Joining the Group!!!!!!
The beautys of long pole fishing or as I like to call it STICK FISHING! Is its CHEAP! I have 15 poles. haha. Yes Im like a woman and her shoes when it comes to my sticks. 8ft ultra lights for fishing back in the tight sloughs and ditchs all the way to the monster 20 footer. My favs are 10ft blackwidow made by B&M and the 12ft Cadilac made by B&M. I use B&M almost exclusively since there located in MS. I try to support all my local or as local as I can get stores and producers. Not to mention that I have yet to find a pole that matched the quality that these guys have. Ive got a few of the classic bamboos to. Home made. We cut them when I was a kid with my paw-paw, Hung em with weights to dry out and straitn and varnished them ourselfs.

i think that is the best line ive heard i a while. it made me smile

Yeah I also have 4 Bucks BnM poles, 12' graphite jigging poles 2 piece. These I do have reels on mostly just to stor the line. The two piece kinda makes them pain taking down an setting up, I do prefer the telescoping ones better. But these are very sensitve when it comes to yanking crappies out of the brush. They really load up nice with the all the line guides.
We have 4 of the same poles rigged with uncle bucks 1to1 reels. We use these mainly for crappie fishing in the heavy heavy tree tops. Having the extra line was really nice because you could always pull off some more and rerig in seconds when you broke off or use the guides to to unhang snags deep down in the water, something you can only do with rods with guides and reels. After 15 20 trips we have mastered the art of the perfect setup that lets us very easily 1. avoid snaging and 2. the trick of letting the weight do the work to get you unhung. These are the only poles I have in the boat with reels. I only bring out the big tackle box and my spinning reels maybe 4 or 5 times a year for the speckled trout run and our work bass tourn. ( I spent all day with no bass that were of size to weigh in so I spent the last 45 mins catching gills and snuck them in on the scales at over 7lbs... Old man laughed and said man them some good gills, make sure they get cleaned with the catfish they brought so I can have a couple.) I LOVE THE LONG POLE!
I used Class Tackle 20 ft graphite pole for a long time until a large carp broken my tip! I tried various pole until I found a nice Cabela's 14 ft graphite pole. Its light and you can feel light touch on the tip. I dont try it yet and see if its good for big bluegills. I also use 12 ft Bream Buster Delux. I like to use pole during windy that I can make my bait stay one spot much longer also can use bait a foot above the bottom. Other good way is keep bait close to rock walls, around woods or in hole of weedbed! Pole is great for open cold water in winter!!!!

Sad that The Class Tackle is out of business! Great graphite poles, and many stuff for pole anglers!
Like a woman and her shoes I think Ive got a pole to go to the ball or work in the yard with! I went to pick up some corks today and to check if they had gotten in some more BnM Black Widow poles. Well guess who was lucky today! I picked up the last 10 split-slip corks they had in stock that I use and well they were out of the Black Widows but I was just tickled to death to see that they got in a few Skeeter poles. Its a 12ft 4 section graphite with the crimped tip. Since I mainly bobber fish I like a good stiff long fishing pole. These are awsume and they also have the crimped end instead of the tied on. There super tough..... ( Unless you step on them on concrete then they smush!) I dont even know how many poles I have but Im sure ive got one for every occasion and situation. I even found another 14ftr that we bought on sale for 7 bucks a couple weeks ago in the back of the truck. Ima have to take a picture and post it soon when I re-rig with my poles all saluting. Its a sunny 75 tommorrow. Bet you cant guess what I'll be doin!
What is your favorite bream pole? I have an old Black Magic that I love, but I just had to re-do the tip and I need to get a backup in case it fails me.

Just got hooked on pole fishing myself. Bought a 12foot shakespeare on a whim and now I'm slowly building a collection. That first little fish made me grin and now the pole will never stay home again :D
