Had the pleasure this weekend to host a friend and his son on a fishing weekend camp out. They drove seven hours to get get here so Friday I ferried them upriver 10 miles and let them chase the smallmouth all the way back in an isolated river with hardley any fishing pressure, they had a ball in the 103 degree heat index, they caught lots of smallies and kentuckies out of my canoe ,they released all of them. They wanted to eat some fish while they were here so the next day I took them to an near by oxbow lake that is flooded six times a year by the river, We worked the banks fishing the cypress trees and knobs and caught lots of large free range bluegill, enought in two hours to have a good mess for dinner Sat night .This was the first time they had ever gone bream fishing but they caught on quick. After fish cooked in peanut oil , with fries and hushpuppies they said I was spoiling them, and the bream better watch out when they get home. They are already talking about coming back in Oct. I'll be ready
