This may be a dumb question, but, when bluegills are spawning do only the males do the (peeing) or do the females also. I am wanting to put some males only in a small pond and wondered if this could be a good way of identifying some of the smaller males. I don't have a problem identifying the larger males, but don't want to make a mistake either.
I dunno from sexing them, but they like to pee directly into my tackle bag.
Moreover, only the females will spike you. As Poor Richard says, "It is wise to watch out for those spiny rays, for they may stab you even as you try to remove the hook."
