Abney said…: John I catch some beautiful cats in the black water rivers I fish at home in Northeast North Carolina but you can go to the Santee Cooper Lakes and catch two or three hundred pounds of fish on rod n' reel in a day trip! What a great pull on medium action gear. So many nice marinas/boat rentals/guides etc. You can still get a full day with two people for under 250.00 with fish cleaning included....little mom and pop restaurants and good southern hospitality....

Abney said…: If you ever get the chance to go for a Catfish trip, I would travel down to the SANTEE COOPER lakes of South Carolina....Some of the oldest man-made lakes in the country, formed in 1939 and full of big cats...There is a technique almost year round but I'm partial to the Spring so you can go after Shellcrackers averaging over a pound while you're there!
