Thanks for the welcome Dick! Not as many places in NM but there's a few panfish spots around. We're thinking of FL so lots more there.

Thanks for having me I've been a fan of catching Bluegills since I was I believe 4 years old, In 2003 I caught a State Certified Sunfish out of an old Strip mine lake it was 10 and 1/4 inches long and weighed 12 oz. was not a state record but a great catch for myself. they sent me a certificate and a pin. But yeah my favorite thing to catch is the Bluegill, most folks around here are like really you don't like catching Catfish or bass, well of course I do. Here in Sountern Ohio there are a lot of small streams and creeks that run into the Ohio River, I like finding those lost and forgotten small farm ponds and lakes sneaking up and dropping a line in that hasn't had a line and a bobber for many years and I tell you there are lots of old farm lands ridges and hollows that have plenty to be found. I'm glad to be apart of the site something I can relate to. :)

Good morning, Mr. Tabbert.

I am originally from Georgia transplanted to Maryland after I left the USN.  I am ready to get back to fishing.  I grew up catching bream (brim) in south GA.  I have purchased the fish to share with my family some of the tastes of my childhood.  Now, I want to share with them the trill of catching them.  I am looking for good places to fish in southern Maryland, Prince George's and Charles County areas.

Thanks alot for the kind welcome, looks like I am going to be right at home at this site. Here where I live (a small town in South Africa), the Blue Gill is looked down on. Mostly because people are ignorant and use rods that haul out the Titanic with ease. I would rather catch Blue Gill on my Fly Rod, than almost any other fish!

Thanks Dick, I appreciate the welcome. Interesting site. I stopped in after

Google Imaging sunfish and here I am. What a great fish decoy that was posted in 2012. That got me here... I carve, but I can't do that well. Actually anything to do with fishing, I am in!

with fishing, I am in!

Dick, Thanks for the welcome message.  The site looks very interesting.  My kids and I love to fish for blue gills, crappie and anything else we can get after. I look forward to getting to know everyone.  Happy new year!

Thanks David and Dick!  It's great to be on board.  We have Bluegill up here in the great white north, and I'm crazy about them, but an 8 incher is a real big one.  When I saw the site photos today for the first time my jaw hit the floor!!

I've done underwater filming for several fishing shows (freelance - it's a hobby) and in 20 years of filming have never witnessed anything remotely close to these giants!!!  I showed BobIzumi (The Real Fishing Show) the photo of a 12 inch gill (Richmond Mill Lake) and he nearly fainted!!

Thanks again for having me as a member

Thanks Dick.  I appreciate the welcome.  I am looking forward to being a regular visitor to this site.  I am impressed with the info and posts I have viewed so far.

Sorry it took me so long to reply.  I am still trying to figure out my way around the site.

I took my son out for some bluegill fishing yesterday, and wouldn't you know it, the first thing he caught was a 14" LG mouth Bass.  Shortly after that I caught an 8" Redear.  Two hours latter my son hooked a 17" LG Mouth.  You never know what you will catch in the canals of Cape Coral, Fl.   All of these fish were caught on worms.

I tried fishing with Beetle Spins, but nothing seemed to be interested.

Thanks again for the welcome.

Thanks for the warm welcome, Dick! Bream fishing has always occupied a special place in my heart and am glad to have found a spot catering to those of us with similar whimsies. A cab-over bluegill was my first fish and am fortunate enough to still have the opportunity to fish for red ear with my 73 year old mother (her absolute favorite fish). Thanks again...
