Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

While splitting wood I found these grubs residing in what I believe is Elm.The pieces with the turkey tail mushrooms on the bark were the ones tahat produced the Grubs.Maple wood is also a good Grub producer.

Tried the bait but was dissapointed .The grubs werent staying on the hook well and the consistency was mushy .must be a winter skin on the grubs..anyone know how I can treat the grubs, which look great by the way , to have a harder skin?

The mealworms stayed on the jig much better when fishing a few days ago.

No, just got these a few hours ago.I will use them Sunday morning. You can bet that grubs are good bait for all fish though.
