Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

Richmond Mill, North Carolina getting a reputation for really big bluegill.

Thanks to Big Bluegill member and friend Bob Lusk there are some pictures beginning to filter in of massive tanker bluegills from Richmond Mill!

Here's a couple more. Folks, these are some true behemoths.

Here's Dr. Jim Morgan with a 1-12 bluegill. This fish is very young, with tremendous upside potential.

...and here he is again with a pound-and-a-halfer.

The guy who caught the 2-8 is Clyde Douglass. He caught it on a fly. A deer hair mouse.

Amazing stuff for such a young fishery. What sort of incredible fish might the future hold?

Yep, that's true. The Morgan Company has gone to great lengths (and expense) to create the genesis of a truly world class fishery. The big bluegill are a product of good overall management, starting with a mature habitat. Add a solid food chain and best genetics and there's what you get. Dr. Morgan is working to build a business around the fishery, called Kingfisher Society where high end (mostly corporate) clients can write a check to come and entertain their clients. Also, Jim Morgan works with individuals, especially families who want to spent quality time on a very special lake. The experience far transcends the fishery, believe me.

I took the time to use the Google earth program to view this pond from the sky...mile an a half long, and less than a half mile wide. From the looks of things, I'm under the impression that one would need to be granted special access to fish this gem.
