Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

http://www.the-fishing-place.comThis is a vacation week for me, so I am at the Comfort Inn Apple Valley in Sevierville, Tn. The Little Pigeon River runs right by it. I chose this spot because I have been by it many times and wanted to try it out. The Apple Barn and Orvis Sporting goods store are here on the property. It is quiet and very picturesque.

I wanted to try this stretch of the Little Pigeon and see how the fishing is. I went out for about an hour or so this morning and caught two Redeyes (Warmouth Bass) and a Red-Bellied Sunfish. I caught them on jigs. One was a green curly tail minnow jig and the other a small green and red split-tail jig, intended for trout.

This river holds a good variety of fish, including Largemouth Bass, Smallmouth Bass, trout, redeyes, catfish and various members of the Sunfish family. I was using an ultralight rod and reel with 4 pound test line. I hung up enough to lose an couple of jigs. This is a perfect place to catch panfish on ultralight gear.
