Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

Where I'm from (SE Massachusetts), Bluegill aren't a very sought after species of fish. Most anglers around here are Striper fanatics. I spend the vast majority of my time fishing the sweetwater for Bass, Panfish, and Trout from the comfort of my Ocean Kayak.

I'm curious to know if there are any other members from the New England area.

I do a lot of Smallmouth and Trout fishing on the Cape (about an hours' drive from me) but have recently been spending a lot more time chasing Bluegill and Crappie on waters closer to home.

Even though I'm "Minnesotan"...I can say I have spent some time(4 years) fishing the waters of New England (Southern New Hampshire back in the late 80's doing the work thing) a few lakes just north of the Massachusett/New Hampsire border...."Captain's Pond" near Atkinson/Salem (crappies).... Long Pond near "Danville" (Pickerel)...and "Cub Pond"crappie and "kibbees"(New Englanders slang for bluegills) again not far from Danville/Hampstead and the bigger bodies of water...Lake Massebesic for smallmouth and Lake Winnipasaki for lake trout....I found that the population of New Hamshire fished mainly for trout and regarded the "kibbees" as more of a second rate fish...hardly fished them at all....I don't think they know what they're missing...
