Chumming for Bluegills in March....

The weather has been spring like for the past two weeks in northern Illinois(Waukegan) and I was wondering if the water temp. is in the mid 40's would chumming bring the gills into 7-10 feet of water? I hoping so cause I'm going out this weekend to try my luck at my honeyhole.

Went to my honey hole on Tuesday the 23rd at 5pm. I decided to fish muti-areas to locate that monster gill I have been searching for!!! In three hours I caught 15 keeper bass and a couple of channel cat.  No gills at all...this is a great spot to visit. you fishmen that are in the Lake County Illinois area should give this hidden lake a try, I'm sure you shall be all smile at the end of your day their...

Panfish are bitting....

...very good early morning and late evening. I caught over 80 panfish(bluegills, crappies.strippers) on night crawlers and cricket jig.I guess you can say they were in the pre-spawn mode. Catfish were a problem cause most of them I caught were small but put up a good fight...now I'm wondering if the panfish in the chain-no-lakes are bitting? I shall find out this weekend and post some pics if my luck is good,
