Do you love big bluegill?
This rig - circa 1930 - 1950 probably caught more fish than you can possibly imagine. What used to be a "Junior Angling Outift" is probably a hotter ticket than most of what hangs on the shelf in your big box tackle store. Simple, effective, sensitive and recently added to my live bait tackle museum. Goose quill float on winder.

I have held what I thought was the Excalibur of gill poles - won my first-ever big fishing tourney day one using it. Light, stiff, perfect - you are absolutely correct great hook, good line and pole are essential.
Let's make the U.S. pole-fishing scene start to pop!! I have seen what the real deal is and when people get their hands on the right setup - LOOK OUT!
Johnny
The key is the hook and line. Second is the pole. US based telescopic poles are about 6-8 oz at the 10 foot level. I'm using Japanese poles at about 1.5 oz and rated at 1-4lb test and cost about $40.00 with shipping. No contest and I've accidentally nailed bass in the 3-4 lb range. Love your ideas and can't wait to see your products.
I just got in disgorgers and split shot pliers for my own brand.
I have a few more pieces to put together and some good companies to team up with like Gapen who provide a well-rounded live bait selection. Good stuff is happening on the scene.
Joe-
no worries, I am bringing the tackle to the mainland!!!
All the good stuff. Love that product you have there - soon you can buy it close to home.
I might not get rich, but I will catch a lot of fish.
I am always looking to antique auctions for these as I am building up a bobber museum. Not there yet, but at some point I plan on being to show a picture history of bobbers and floats through time.
The 30's - 70's (and even some now like Bobber with a Brain) feature some of the most whimsical and goofy fishing quackery in the history of man. I am very puzzled at how the industry has forgotten the live bait angler compared to the way that bass has erupted and been over-done for the past 40 years.
Oh well, leaves a lot of discussion open for a great website like Big Bluegill.com - our time is coming.
That's so cool. Where did you find it?
