i had to buy corn oil.... you have to take into consideration the high temp required to fry fish at 375... peanut oil is rated tops because of taste and a high smoke point ... alas corn oil with its high smoke point was only available in my area
Thanks ,having trouble finding it up here .
It is expensive compared to other oils John.....roughly 12.00 to 15.00 dollars a gallon depending on the brand.....it holds up to high temperatures better than other oils.........I actually strain my used peanut oil and reuse without any fall off in the flavor of the fish......
Been wanting to try Peanut oil but don't see it up here in the North East .I hear it's expensive .
Thanks Guys......Ken I'm very picky on my fish and seafood products........As for my fish, I like a very FINE yellow corn meal coated on damp fillets and finally if at all possible, fried in peanut oil......although vegetable or a blended peanut oil works fine.......I use a cornmeal brand called "Tendabake".......
YUM!
Jeff these look great!
I was wondering what you use as a batter I just got a new deep fryer and I'm going to start keeping some fish
