Smaller minnow plugs and shad crankbaits are good lures for redbreasts. Rapalas that work well for me include HJ-6, F-7, FLR-6, SSR-5, F-5, XR-6, XR-4, JSR-4, J-7, and J-5. Even a Heddon Tiny Torpedo or Teeny Torpedo works.

Oh I forgot this ! The bigger RBS I've caught hit spoons meant for decent Smallies while fishing in lakes!!

Is that right Michael . I have never tried for  them on cranks yet. I have caught them on UL spinning outfits using 2# test throwing worms,1" Twister Tails on 64th oz. heads,Spinner flies and Hilberandt Flickers.Got my first  few on the flyrod last week and they were caught on small Ant imitations .They were very aggressive but missing a foam bug I was throwing at first and finally caught one on it .I am interested in seeing what their favorite fly might be.I'm thinking of going back soon and trying  various Terrestrial imitations.

I enjoy catching redbreasts in rivers. My local river produces a lot of those 2" to 4" RBS. Hit them like crazy on light action Rapalas. I've even seen them hit a F-7 on the surface like a largemouth would. Most aggressive sunfish of your usual 3 here in CT.
