Thanks Slip.......friend called me last night to report surface temps at 58.1 on the Pasquotank River so needless to say I'm would up about that.......got a little cold snap late week to get through but 70s everyday next week should set up the panfish parade nicely starting 3/12.............these fish were found shallow on the sixth consecutive day with water temps sustained above 50.......
Heck Carl im from Michigan... ive been out in the boat when over 2 inches of snow fell in it!...i believe no matter where you are if you have open water its exponentially more favorable catching b'gill than fishing the ice. i go fishing in my ice fishing gear.
SLIP STINKER;;; IT MIGHT BE A EARLY SPRING;; BUT NEVER FORGET;; AT LEAST ONE MORE GOOD FROST; USUALLY IN APRIL !! CALLED BLACK BERRY WINTER !! IT NEVER FAILS !!
Good News! for you!..By the looks of the weather we might be 6 wks ahead of last years pace!!!
We're on a similar track as in 2014 but fish may push shallow even sooner with water temps already a little above 50 degrees..........getting excited for sure......
These fish came last season on the sixteenth of March when things had warmed up for more than a week heading into the first week of Spring......if not this weekend it should pick up by next weekend........looking forward to this and the gill movement.................
