Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

Every bit of this fly is marabou: body, tail, dubbed ribbing.
This really makes materials stocking easy.
Super easy tie, this will probably go down in the annals of fly tying history. Thumbs up, Tooty!

Thanks, Dick - coming from you that means a lot.

Allen, I like the bead chain eyes and you can always add some lead wire or solder if more weight is wanted. I think you make a good case, in fact, for specializing in them....
My next project is a damsel nymph, in fact.

I use a "assorted" bead package from Micheal's.  Just go to the jewelry section, where all the bead stuff is.  Somewhere, there are little glass tubes of solid metal crimp beads.  Two colors, brass and silver.  I have both, but prefer the brass.  $8 + change for 750 beads.

David, you might also want to try bead chain eyes.  I know those are hollow, and don't add much weight, but if you do, the resulting fly is EXTREMELY close to the "Flicted Damsel" that I've been tying this Summer.  Heck, on some of them, the thread wraps on the extended body tail actually come off, and it becomes the same things as what you've tied.

Your fly is a fish-killer!

I'll get into some metal beads. I have some glass ones that add a little weight, but about half that of metal. Hollow beads should add almost nothing.
Some weight can be good for a jigging action.

I've been telling everyone who asks how easy they are and now you know David !!!!!!!! Looks like you used a dry fly hook David, is that correct? The only difference between yours and mine is I added a little 1/8th inch hollow bead to mine as an attractor. To put the bead on sometimes you have to bend the hook open a bit and slide it over the barb.

   GOOD LOOKING BUG DAVID...........
