Do you love big bluegill?
I pass the line through the eye and wrap (not tie) the eye and leave about a foot......I walk down the pole every two to three inches with a clinch knot and I ususally end up with three knots around the pole. I then come back and wrap the pole with electrical tape above each knot which serves to keep the line from wrapping. My recommendation on line length is to match the pole or go a little over to accomodate bait changes without shortening the line too much as you lose a little each time......

Here's how I attach the line on mine......no science behind it just proven over the years.......I got my first cane pole 46 years ago and my grandfather told me then I would always fish with one........wish I could show him some of the results I had on poles over the years.......he would get a chuckle I'm sure!
