I have a strategy of enticing some gills in the rivers and creeks I visit this weekend.....Similar to the female Crappie te gills will start looking for these pockets of warmer water even of it's only a couple degrees higher than the majority of the creek or river......the wind can work in your favor on this issue by pushing sun drenched surface water to one bank or another and serving as a thermal layer and drawing in fish in numbers.....Just something to consider if you have marginal water temperatures but sunny skies.....

It was a fun weekend catching 73 Crappie but even better for me was seeing a few gills today ...Normally the overlap lasts two to three weeks and then the Crappie pull back some.....Caught several of today's gills on the jig/live minnow combination....tells me the gills are coming to life when they strike a larger bait like that....
