Excellent Fish! Bruce I have never seen a panfish that big before. What is your friend feeding them HGH?

6-8 years in Oklahoma would be my guess. Texas probably 5-7, depending on how far south you get. RES....not certain. My instinct tells me that they might live a little longer in the south than bluegill because they have evolved as warm/hot water fish. They also are known to sometimes reach 5 pounds, so I'd assume that fish was around awhile. Good question for a biologist, but if I had to hazard a guess, I'd say that RES live longer than BG the further south you get.

Well do you happen to know how long one would live in Oklahoma?

What about RES?

Thanks

I'm going to say that in Illinois a bluegill or bluegill/green sunfish hybrid could live 8-10 years, with maybe a rare individual going a little longer.

How long do they live?

I believe that this fish is only age-5.
