This was on the 22nd of February last year........we'll see what the ground hog has in store for me this season.......we started getting some mild sunny days mid to late February last season.......
The big girls start moving shallow on the longer February days.....I'll be ready!
Water temps made it up to 57 by early afternoon Saturday Jim after starting around 51 at first light.......fish were caught scattered with some heavy females full of eggs as shallow as three feet.......most were in the 4 to 8 foot range but very active.....many strikes came during the free fall to depth......the line would load up and go towards deeper water......
How deep, Jeff? And the water temperature?
Nice Crappie!
I'll answer for Andy , Jeffrey. Guess the crappie bite starts in mid april here and down southern Illinois bout the same time. Water is generally cold still, but when it starts to warm we'll be out Jeffrey.....
real nice slabs jeff!! great table fare!
When do they normally go shallow in your area Andy?
Thanks James.....I caught some nice gills and Crappie on one of the pink and white bead heads you sent me....I'll be adding more on the story in the coming days........
