There's a better picture of this same fish in my pictures on a measureing board. I call them Bluegills? The males are really dark and the females much lighter colored solid black ear flap and deep forked tail. They Nail topwater bugs :)
The Shellcracker down here have a more rounded tail are lighter colored and have a distinctive red/orange edge on the ear flap and gill usually some red/orange on their bellys. Bigger than the Bluegills too, I almost never catch them on topwaters.
