Zach how is the rain situation in Oklahoma have you been in drought this last summer or did it not get over your way.

I still have yet to make it out this year, and now we are expecting anywhere from 2-8 inches of rain in Oklahoma in the next few days.  This will be nice to fill the ponds up, but will make it so muddy that I will not be able to get to the ponds to fish.  I just hope the FA does not take over before I get out there.  I may try to fertilze this year or add something to help with the FA just so my girls can fish.

Every part of the state is different. Here the water is still in the 40's sow a slow finesse presentation is required. All I did was fished with just a hook ,no float and in sinker. I let the bait sink at a very slow rate. When I see the line twitch I set the hook or if I seen my bait was gone I know it was in the fishes mouth and then set the hook. I tried the float and 1 small split shot no bite. So I resorted to what I said above.

So....what am I doing wrong? Lol

This is how I usally always fish for my gills, they seem to hammer the bait as it falls, and everynow and then, I will hook on to a crappie, catfish, or whatever else may be waiting for some food.  Makes it a fun time.

Your absolutely right Tony I did get 8 bass seems like they would eat anything you put in front of them.

Same gig yesterday, guys! Fish were feeding, but just not aggressive. Slow sinking plastic/jig options got them, then they went neutral and we had to worm 'em with wind drifted bobber techniques. Must be a national pattern!

Anyway...nice lookin gills Dick! Congrats!

Weird - same method here, Dick. Hook and worm - thats it. Wish I'd figured that out before I lost two of my superior, high-grade, handmade floats! ( just like sayin' that!)

I reckon the sunfish are still in pre, pre-spawn patterns.

That's exactly what I'm seeing too, Dick. I fished for a few minutes this afternoon and quickly found out the fish had no interest in chasing, or pursuing anything.....except for the Bass, they would smash anything as soon as it touched the water.

The Bluegills, well, I did what you did. No weight and no float. Cast it out as best I could, let it sink and watch the line. At the first twitch, set the hook.

I think this would be an ideal scenario for a flyrod and some sinking flies.
