Try NOAA.gov and put in your zip code.....once you're pulled up in your area look for the river/lake tab and click it.......

They make observations several times a day........we are very close to sea level here in coastal NC.....0 would be normal level...anything negative means low water and plus means high, notice flood stage is only 1.8 feet....this chart for 4:26 p.m. today tells me the water is .46 feet high or about six inches.....translation great fishing as well as it validates a very strong southwest wind today............also notice that there was approximately 15" between Sunday and it's peak this week on Tuesday......
