Splendid! If you must, best to visit Perris. Quite a fishing frenzy for CNs and pot belly bucketmouths. Water goes down, bucketmouths intensify their gorging. CNs are desperate as well. Other than that, Diamond Valley is great to attack for stripers during these hot days.

Wow, Elsinore sounds crazy now! I've only fished it once, when I was a kid, and got not even a single nibble. Great to hear it's changed for the better!

This coming weekend, I *might* get to go fishing for the first time this whole year, w00t! I'm thinking of doing Cuyamaca because I love the mountains and haven't been up there in 3 or 4 years, but haven't decided for sure yet.

Elsinore is thriving right now. It's one of the top 5 lakes to fish at in SoCal. The lake got a renovation in 2008, which completely remodified the quality of the water and the fishes. In 2004, there was a wetland project, accommodated by deep dredging, removal of carps' population, nutrients capping, massive aeration, and restocking, with increased fishery habit breeding/research program in place. 6lbs to 11lbs bass were caught by float tubers and boat anglers. Haven't got a chance to roam the water since I got tied down so much. Crappies are at an all time high and prized sizes, between 2lbs to 4lbs.

Is Elsinore good? Hmmm. I've always thought of it as a dishpan water ski lake, maybe things have changed?

+1 on the carp. If they lived around here, my wife would tell me to just rent a boat and drive around with a big net hanging out. To get rid of those carp in the east, they should just start commercially fishing them and sell them in Asian markets. Problem solved :)

JB, Havasu is the top lake out west for REs. I have yet to hear any lake in on the west side that dare to come close to Havasu. Perris and Skinner are great with CNs, but REs, still half the size. Maybe..just maybe, Lake Elsinore will reach there in about 4 years.

Scruffy, why wouldn't the TN dolphin be eaten? Carp is a carp. Cook them just right, and it's good as tilapia, without the bad omega 6.

Good thing I wasn't able to make it, I probably would have barfed over the side of the boat :p

Overall, the trip still sounds awesome! Maybe we can do a BBG Rendezvous West next year. Perris and Skinner have biggies and are home lakes for a few BBGers, and the RES in Havasu have me jonesing to to make the drive to Arizona. Anybody know any other great panfish lakes in the west? We could have a fishing contest Vs. BBG Rendezvous East :D
