Tight lining is using just a split shot and hook. Put the split shot about 10-12 inches above the hook and you're good to go. It's simply fishing on bottom, but there's some technique involved. I sometimes slowly retrieve the bait, kind of like bass fishing, and it will help promote a hard strike from a big gill or redear

I tight line for redears using redworms.
