We called the freshwater drum “ gas-per-gu”  in south Louisiana……they used to drive me nuts when I was trying to catch channel cats on catalpa worms…..but fun to catch, they get pretty big and when you hook them in current it’s a battle….

yeah John my grandaddy used to call them goo's.  i guess its a tennessee, mississippi, or louisianna thang.  sauger were called jack salmon, blue cats where white channel cats, flatheads were yellow cats, channel cats were spotted or willow cats.

Tracy-"Gasper Goo". Never knew that term for a Fresh water Drum. I only caught one of those in my life so far. Genesee River, Rochester NY.

Tracy-Walleye for sure .Yellow Perch also are a favorite. Been a longtime since my last Bluegill Meal and a few Years since my last Crappie meal.

John my preferable fish are sauger/walleye, bluegill/shellcracker, crappie, blue cats and spotted cats(channel), gasper goo, spotted bass.  want to try some pickerel but id have to fish the smaller tannic lakes.

i guess i was burned out on salmony tasting fish from my step mommas jack mackeral patties twice a week and balogny sandwiches the other days.

Jeff, i remember that place and ate steaks there before.  the place i ate the grilled rainbow trout was at the brass lantern on up the mountain.

One thing I miss about Tennessee was seeing rainbow trout on many menus in the mountains…..one of my favorite Aunts would invite us up to a restaurant near their campground every fall…….the grilled trout was delicious at that location in Townsend, Tennessee……good memories…..
