Wow! Over 500 fish on ONE JIG!!!!
I'm speechless. Literally. I can barely type.
I will agree with the statement, "...it gets ugly quick on hook set..." I tagged one a couple weeks ago. At close range; the fish was practically at my feet. I had maybe 6' of line out, and the pole is 7'. Needless to say, it shot off like a rocket and started throwing water everywhere. I was lucky in that I had 8 lbs test mono on for a leader. Had I been using 4 lbs test mono, that Bowfin would probably has snapped my line on the first surging run and made off with one of my inline spinners.
Thanks Ben.......
Many of these guys break off our terminal tackle Kent but we have landed several in the ten pound class over the years......my dad hooked three yesterday and I was only able to net one........my dad does use heavier line at 14 pound test but with small spin casting gear and flexible poles.......it gets ugly quick on hook set........LOL
Jig held up good to this assault and several others we failed to land.........I just retired an Electric Chicken jig that had caught nearly 500 fish including nearly 50 Largemouth, a couple Bowfin and a big channel cat.........no soft plastic will ever give you that............superb durability Allen.......
Great fish, just curious if it was landed on a lite tackle? I would pay $ to watch that fight. Cool fish and great catch!
I couldn't quite make it out, Jeff. Thanks. How did that jig hold up against the teeth? Those fish are fighters, for sure!
Yep John......we're tipping jigs with live crickets right now..........catches everything around these parts......
Is that a Cricket cage nearby there Jeffrey?
A ruckus in the boat!
