Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

The highlight of this trip was my dad and I each caught a one pound Warmouth......Both fish were caught on a tipped Grass Shrimp....

Thanks Guys.....As far as the presentation Tony.......I have been fishing the jigs under a float in typical bedding areas but we have been forced to fish deeper the last few weeks as well because of shifting temperatures.....Our water is down a couple feet which has all but dried up many beds, you can see what I'm saying from a couple photos I showed of this condition.  I rarely let the jig sit.....if a strike doesn't come on the fall, I start short jerks out towards deeper water with pauses after each. My crickets normally kick but dead crickets will get hit right now as well.....Good Luck Tony and hopefully this information will help....

Jeffrey, how do you prefer to fish your jigs? I see a float in some of your photos, is it a stationary, vertical presentation, or cast and retrieve? Are you fishing beds, or targeting deeper, roaming fish? Are you able to hook the cricket so it stays alive, or do dead ones produce also?

I'm experimenting with my homemade jigs, and I'm looking for techniques that are proven to produce fish as a basis for comparison. And from what I can see, your technique certainly meets that criteria ;) !!

Wow! WOW! Some time in my lifetime I have got to go fishing with you and get in on those blackwater rivers for this insane panfishing fun! Glad the jigs are a hit in Dixie, er, Carolina anyway!
