Adam....I think you are right! And, I believe that the great majority of these we have been catching are male bluegill X pumpkinseed hybrids. Good observation!

Outstanding fish, looks like a BG x PS hybrid to to me. It's got similar patterns to some of the hybrid I caught last year. Again great fish.
