Those are great eating fish...been stocked in some of our local reservoirs by well-intended anglers. Seems we have to troll 18 to 30 ft to get them in the summer. Nice work, John!

Allen - White Perch native range includes Northeastern SC.

A White Perch is not  really a perch, just a different variation of the White Bass. They are in the same temperate bass family.

I know White Perch are native to brackish waters on the East Coast.  Do they normally range into SC?  I need to grab one of my books.....

Meant to say, I only catch stragglers because I have no boat to carry me to their deep water haunts. They can be hard to find as they move around in search of baitfish and insect swarms. In this they are like all their cousins.
Must states have classed them as invasive, non game, as Allen says. SC, where I live, doesn't even recognize them. You may catch as many as you want, with no limits.
If you can learn their enigmatic ways, you may be assured of many fish dinners to come.

Good time to remind ail that the white perch are not "perch" - they are moronii. This makes them direct cousins to striper, white bass, wipers, etc. They're really lilliputian versions of these.
They are good eating, the challenge being to find schools of them in open water. 20-30 feet is recommended. This gives you the best chance of finding larger specimens. They school by size, so once you find some you are into a furious time.
I pinky catch them by

Leo its a Hus spoon made by Luhr Jensen .I tipped with crawler pieces. It nabbed close to 20 fish yesterday. Gills, White and Yellow Perch and a dink Bass.

Wow, excellent catches. What kind of lure is that?

Look for surface-feeding activity.  Watch for gulls wheeling and diving on bait in the water, or look for splashes in a small area.  I've see a few "feeding frenzies", and if you're within casting range, you're almost guaranteed fish-on with every cast, at least until the school sounds.

If I don't see any surface activity, I usually end up trolling to catch some Whites.

in wixom lake they move in tight schools move in on sandy shoals chasing baitfish... catch a few ... then they are gone... they are hard to target on this lake.
