Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

Picture of my 9 year old sons biggest Hybrid, caught last summer at Lake of The Ozarks MO.

He caught the fish all by himself, casting a 5 inch swim bait.

We photographed and released the fish.

He had another one hooked on a live shad, that fought for a long time, but eventually came off. We never did get the fish up close enough to see it.

Come on warm weather!

Man, I love the prospect of having HSB in my little pond. I can't wait to see my boy's face when he hooks one. Beautiful fish guys.

Here's one of the big wipers (striped bass X white bass hybrid) from my fishing pond.

Wipers do fantastic in small ponds as long as you can maintain a good oxygen profile throughout the water column. They grow the fastest on artificial pellets. They are absolutely ravenous! I'll try to post a photo of the 15 pounder.

Wow Bruce! Bet that was fun on a flyrod!
What do you feed them? I didn't know they could survive that well in small ponds. I'd like to hear more.

I raise and sell wipers every year. They have amazing growth rates. I've raised them up to 15 pounds in my little 1.5 acre pond. I caught him on a fly rod. :-)
