Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

I couldn't swing many of this afternoon's fish in the boat using a 10 footer...Landing net saved me on several including this big girl.........I turned her loose to lay a couple thousand eggs or so......

Thanks Vince....it's a lot easier to release these big girls when fish are abundant.....I like the results from the past.....These areas have been productive for years down to the very stump....something brings them back and I'm grateful to have figured their patterns out....

Good one, Jeffrey!! Those 10" males taste just as good as she would have, and you helped preserve your already good fishery. Selective harvest at work!!!!

Thanks Jim....."select harvest" was in play so I took a 10" male in her place....Still a tasty treat and she is free to keep the Tidal Crappie populations flourishing in coastal North Carolina....I can enjoy this style fishing for years to come and may catch a trophy sooner...
