This is the reason why I told all my coworkers, friends, and anyone attached closed to them that if they ever found something old in the fishing arena, and plan to toss to make room, just give them all to me. I nearly received a bamboo one-of-a-kind custom built 12', 3-sections fly rod. Light as a feather, and that thing whipped like a bull-whip. However, after someone told the family that the rod was a special item that can yield a nice grand, well..there went that rod. It was made by a Chinese rod master of the Guangdong Province, made in the early 1700s. The rod looked like it was well kept in its original condition, layered with a specialized resin that was known in making martial arts wooden weapons. I would have been so blessed with that rod.
Leo, these metal rods and reels would be in a landfill somewhere if my boss hadn't of thought that I would be interested in them. He was cleaning out his basement and they were in with some of his dad's old stuff. They were very common in the mid fifties, so not real valuable, but makes for a cool wall display in my son's room.
HEY REX a classic looking rig and perfect for what ya did with it. Man if an old rod could talk hey!
