I will be curious to see how big you can get him. They do not tend too much over .25-.5 pound. So you may be able to grow a state record if you leave him in there.

How did it fight by the way? I have always thought that even though they are small and have a really small mouth, they seem to be more aggressive than some of the other sunfish.

I had one in my fish tank for a while and he was so aggressive toward the other fish and at feeding time, that I had to let him in my pond as well.

I hope to get him to take to feed and grow large enough for our record.

Time will tell.

I'm wondering now. If it could have been mixed up with some of my flathead minnows. I last stocked them back in late spring. Sharon to answer your question I released him back to fattin up and catch again. Don't know why my bass hadn't eaten him yet.

The big question is...............what did you do with it?

maybe it was put in with the Greensunfish with the bucket method.

I have no idea there no steam or any thing. It's a retention pond

Longear sunfish - how did that get in your pond, Rick? Does your pond feed into a stream?
