Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

The Red Filament Jig is a 1/64th and the top is a 1/80th Tangerine

I didn't fish the red one today.....just a size reference....the 1/80th is small when you get into big Crappie like I had today but I still managed to catch 8 on it including Big Fish of the Day @ 13.5 inches.......

For me, it depends where I'm at.  In the river, fighting current, or where bigger Crappie swim, I'll got with 1/32 up to 1/8th.  At one of my home lakes, which is normally chock-full of tiny, stunted, fish, the smaller jigs seem to be working great.  I've got a small supply of 1/80th jigs that are producing, and the bait shop sells several other patterns that are producing as well.

They are Allen but in an effort to catch reluctant cold water gills I down sized and then I ran into Mr. Crappie......I missed several nice Crappie today on the small bait but also caught a big one so it all worked out......I never purposely target Crappie with a jig that small.....1/64th at the smallest but normally a 1/32 is my favorite Crappie connection......

Those 1/80th jigheads are small, aren't they?  It took me a bit to used to them.  I need to stock up :)

These are from the Gronaw River Critter collection.......looks very simple but for someone that likes to tip like I do.....an incredible bait.........
