Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

Did I mention they're really good to eat? We released most and kept these three to the pan.

Never caught or ate oscars. If I had to guess I bet they fight like tilapia and taste just about as good? The small lake we stayed on near Fort Lauderdale was loaded with peacocks, tilapia, black bass, and small flatheads. Oh, and walking catfish and another kind of catfish that resembles a 3 foot plecostamas (sp?).

Wouldn't survive in the cold nether regions of Nebraska I don't believe. They're a cichlid from the Amazon, non native to Florida.

Yeah, that's what they reminded me of too, obviously. I didn't know what they were when I saw them swimming close to shore and had to research. Man, they fight great.
