This particular creek is interesting.......it is already post spawn for black crappie that were heavily spawning behind the late March Full Moon which came in conjunction with our first warm up of the season, water temps raced through the 60s on the way to 73 the second week of April.......fast forward to this weekend and you can barely find surface temps of 62 on the upper reaches and the fish have already pulled off to intermediate depths.......creeks less than five miles away have not had the same temps thus there peak spawn is likely to happen after next week's Pink Moon and an even stronger warm up.......just an observation I've had this month.....my favorite crappie river has not peaked at all and that's crazy but it's much deeper and takes longer to penetrate shaded banks.....some years it can happen in late March, most some years as late as May, but normally in April across the upper Albemarle......
