Target duck blinds on the coastal marsh and you just might cross paths with gills like these.......

No short sleeves and sweat on the brow today........we even had below zero wind chills down here in the Carolinas!

I'll do that........I had some friends in the Navy from Minnesota and we always talked fishing.......there's no place like home.......they often caught big gills and redears with me on Santee Cooper but always taked about getting back for ice fishing which we didn't get in the low country of South Carolina......

10-4.... Not that you would make a special trip to Mn but if you are ever passing through be sure to drop a line, we can manage to find some gills around these parts as well....

Well all you got to do is drop me a line Nathanael......we would have a good time and might even catch a gill or two!........ Only thing better than catching fish is catching fish with family and friends!

Thanks Slip......these fish are in their spawning glory.......unique to this location is an abundance of bald cypress blanketing these shallow flats that get some grass growth but these fish are in two feet of water for extended periods of time and match the marshy bottom......they move into these flats by the hundreds often attaching to the only cover in sight which may be a duck blind or simply a downed tree.........on calm days in this location you can find these big gills by surface disturbances which is a real charge of adrenaline if you know what I'm saying.....a very addictive place.......

Boy I would be sleepless too.... I keep saying this Jeff but when I come back to NC for a visit I really am going to try and hook up with you, even if all I can do is a day trip.... Nice fish!

Thanks Allen......I'd like to fish ten groups of bluegill anglers on this creek one day just to see what would come out.........this is a very special place in my arsenal.......to date only family members have joined me on this spot.......best way I can put it......winning a bluegill lottery.........I've been sleepless at night before going in here!
