Do you love big bluegill?

Anybody have any insight into what this growth is on the fins of this gill? There was some on it's gills as well.

Right James, this photo is the yellow grub from what I understand.

yellow grub and black spot grub. they come from herons droppings. eggs then hatch and are eaten by snails. the larvae then get into the water and infest the fish population. the cycle repeats itself. need redear to get rid of the snail population only way to get rid of them is to interrupt the life cycle.

That's awesome. Feel privileged. Taste is a big deal to some folks, and I love fish, but catching them is what I'm after. The sport!! But I do take some to the oven here and there!!

Yeah i'll tell you what Jason,i think it's cool that i can catch these just 30 minutes away from my house although, some people say they don't taste the same, they fight just the same......

Yes,these over here ive seen them with at least 10 black spots(i think i have a photo on my page where one of has around 7 or 8)i think that if they come out of a hatchery the more spots they'll have......

Are you referring to the blacks spots usually close to the tail? I've seen them with 1-3 or 4 spots like that.

They come out of a hatchery.Ive caught them in saltwater as well and they look the same, except for the amount of dots they have on their sides.

Our lakes are freshwater lakes(power plant lakes )stocked with red drum. They cant reproduce in freshwater but, they survive(all the red drum on my page came out of those lakes)i think you can look up info on both these lakes on the net for better info this.I know that they used to have corvina in there as well.......
