Bill that sure is a nice catch you have there. i raised alot of aquarium fishes in my day, mostly cichlids. that forehead on that pumpkinseed you have there is similar to the ones the male cichlids in my aquariums used to develop. did you mount that specimen. its beautiful!

i believe you guys are right... i thought something was fishy about that catch. maybe a dull female i thought at first. a hybrid master angler minimum is 10". damn there goes my patch!

I agree with Bill, I think that fish is a cross. Doesn't diminish it's size, though! Excellent!

Kenneth, I think you have a nice hybrid there....seeds have much more orange spot definition, and a brighter turquoise striation throughout face and lower body.....probably a BG/PS cross, and a nice one at that!

I was actually doing a little scouting for shallow largemouth bass and happened upon a school of large bluegills working the shallows along  rocky rip rap. Came back later and tossed tossed a line out with a bobber and wax worm and was rewarded with one bluegill after another around the 8" mark, the pumpkinseed was the largest and will earn me a Master Angler award for this fish. This has renewed my interest greatly in panfishing. i currently have my aim set at 10" or over for the bluegill Master Angler award.
