Do you love big bluegill?
Thirty pound common snapping turtle caught in the Albemarle Sound region of North Carolina on a hand line....nasty claws and that snapping mouth can break fingers......these are abundant and there is also a generous population of Alligator Snapping Turtles which get much larger than the "common"

I catch a few a year using Hotdog pieces fishing for Bullheads and Channel Cats .Never eaten one and I dont handle them .Dont need to lose fingers!
and those things are just plain mean!! and great eating !!
Lifespan for a common snapping turtle is 40 years........average weight for adults is up to 35 pounds........the North Carolina state record is 61 pounds..........
