Using combination of leftover aluminum pipes for lightweights, and PVC (3/4in and 1/2in) for flexibility, time to create a few fast biminis that cost only $60, rather than $200, with optional customization.
Bimini frame extends from Hobie Mirage Outback SUV sailport add-on to the rear side livewell carrier. Live well carrier areas are retrofitted with 2 seats for the kids, and quickly removed to accommodate large dogs as well. None of the bimini on the market can provide such full protection.
One cover is 80% sun-mesh, providing single layer protection without acting like a sale in high wind for the deserts. The mesh is porous enough to prevent the wind acting on the bimini cover, creating a anti-forward movement. I don't want to be blown away with 25+ mph wind conditions.
Frame on both kayak has a bail-out mode. If the frame is unstable during sudden high wind condition, the upper cover can be ejected immediately. If conditions get worst, frames can also be ejected by a mere pull of two anchor lines on the cleats. Safety over money.
