Vince, I'm using UTC 140 ultra thread as it's pretty strong and lays nice and flat, but you really don't have to pull down real hard to tie of cord. Just put several wraps. David, that is the trick to getting a tapered body. Stretch it thin as you start wraps from tail area and let it relax as you work forward. Like to use white thread as base to allow color of cord to really show and then switch to whatever color thread for head.
REX GREAT LOOKING BUG , BUT THE STRETCH CORD IS GIVING ME FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFITS AND MAY NEED A SMALL DOSE OF REALITY AND CROWN ROYAL BEFORE THE NIGHT IS OVER. Had to look at the pic one more time and see you have it stretched thin at back and then leave it relax a little. I'm ashamed to even post a pic of mine so I WON'T! MAY TAKE ME TILL SPRING TO GET THIS ONE RIGHT!
Wow! that is a great looking fly, Rex. It's really "buggy" looking. I bet the gills think so too. What thread did you use to hold the stretch cord on once it was wrapped?
SWEET!!!!!! I've got to get some more black bead eyes.
Very nice. I like that your dubbing is stringy, I think the gills love that look.
I MIGHT HAVE KNOWN JEFFREY, CREDIT DUE TO GOOD OLE REX, "MASTER TIER" . This is the bug I was refering to in your July PInk discussion a minute ago. This one will be produced tonight in several colors and variations. GREAT LOOKING BUG I THINK!!!!!
GREAT BUG REX!!!!!!!
Rick, most craft stores have it around the beads and jewelry stuff. Stretches down thin and comes in several colors.
Again Rex another nice fly.
The Master at work again......... where do you get magic stretch cord?
Wow! Looks great!
